540 3rd Street

Move right in to this lovely, center-Slope limestone. Designed by prolific Brooklyn architect Axel Hedman, and constructed in 1910, the house is full of Renaissance Revival details. A short list includes parquet floors, quarter-sawn oak panelling, a center staircase of mahogany, classical columns, and original glass and iron doors. It is one of a long row of limestones on the block, each of which has a deep front garden.

The renovations to the house have occurred over the years. Most striking is the parlor floor, which has been opened up from the front door, through to the rear deck.
