This building was designed by a Boston architect, Isaiah Rogers, who masterfully designed the building in the Greek revival style that was the height of fashion at the time it was constructed in 1842.The building was made of granite which was sent over by ships from Quincy, Massachusetts. The huge columns that tower over Wall Street were each carved from massive block stones instead of smaller stones pieced together.The enormous central trading hall, still the buildings most impressive feature, was opulently designed and is surmounted by a vast dome and not a sliver of wood was used during the construction.
